Got any questions? Contact us at help@liquoriceuk.com or via the "Contact Us" page and we'll do our best to answer any queries you may have. In the meantime, Craig answers your most Frequently Asked Questions!

Q: Why the name "Liquorice"?

A: We were thinking about names for a while, and came up with a load of rubbish ones, then someone mentioned about the clarinet, Ally's primary instrument, being affectionately known as the Liquorice Stick. We didn't want to be called the Liquorice Sticks, so we went for "Liquorice" instead!!

Q: How can I buy the album?
A: On the left hand side of this page, and on every page of http://www.liquoriceuk.com you'll see a menu bar. If you are from the UK, click on "Buy Now (UK)" and then follow the instructions depending on whether you want to pay by PayPal, Cheque, Postal Order or Cash. If you are not from mainland UK, then click on "Non-UK Orders" and then click on the relevant "Buy Now" button to take you to the PayPal payment page.

Q: How long did it take to record the album?
A: The album was recorded in the summer of 2009, largely from July-Sept 09, at the Garden Tap in Consett. We had about 8 separate recording sessions, entirely unplugged, where we just played away and recorded everything we did. If a song sounded good, we kept it, if not, we threw it away! At the end of the recording, we met again in the Garden Tap and chose our favourites, along with a running order, and the recordings were complete!

Q: Where can I hear tracks from the album for free?
A: Before you decide whether or not to purchase the album, we have a number of outlets for you to listen to some of the tracks. The opening track, "Candlelight", is available to listen to here via the 'Multimedia' link on the left hand side of the screen. Alternatively you can listen to a few more tracks at http://www.myspace.com/liquoriceduet.

Q: Why can I hear someone laughing on the last track of the album?
A: Good question! The producer, Brad Wilkinson, was in the next room trying to be as quiet as possible, so as not to disturb the recording. At the end of the track, he opened a can, and the hiss could be faintly heard (listen out for it on the album!), forcing Ally into a fit of giggles. We liked it, so kept it in!

Q: Do you have the full licence to sell this album?
A: As you may have noticed, we did not write all of the songs on the album ourselves. I wrote one, "A Million Can't Be Wrong", and Ally wrote one, "Figure by the Road". The rest were songs that we really enjoyed or were by writers who we greatly respected. To record these and sell them, we need a licence. We obtained the full licence from MCPS, a branch of the PRS Music, which stands for the Performing Rights Society, which permits us to a certain amount of copies of the album. Should you wish to know more about this, please do not hesitate to contact us at help@liquoriceuk.com or via the "Contact Us" page, and we'll happily provide you with a copy of the licence certificate.
