LIQUORICE

Liquorice are an acoustic duet from the North-East of England, with Ally Foster on clarinet, saxophone and vocals, and Craig Johnson on guitar and vocals. They have played together since they were 14, playing in local pubs and open mic nights, the most regular being the Earl Grey Whistle Test. When they reached the age where University came calling, it became apparent that Liquorice would not be playing together for much longer. Craig was off to Newcastle and Ally off to Aberystwyth. Both felt that it would be a shame to have played for so long to not have a record of the music they'd played. As students, budgets were obviously tight, so they decided to go for an unplugged, fully acoustic approach to recording, and the album shown below is the result of that hard work.

"Unplugged" was recorded in the Summer of 2009 at the Garden Tap, in County Durham. The album consists of 12 songs, two of which are Liquorice's own. Other songs on the album are simply favourites of the players involved. Big thanks must go to Brad Wilkinson. Officially, he will be known as the producer and the percussionist, however, to Liquorice, he will be known as the man who got this album going. Without him, there wouldn't be a CD available to you now. Check out his YouTube channel: http://uk.youtube.com/tallmanbrad for some more of his great work.

The album has been made in limited supply, so if you would like to purchase a copy, best do it quickly. It's unlikely that in a few years time that these will be floating around on eBay! The CD costs just £6.49. This price includes postage, and once this cost is removed, the CD itself is costing you just a fiver!
